Welcome to the School of the Air Broken Hill (SOTA).  In 2003 VHF radio communication was replaced with a satellite system. Students are now able to see and talk to their teacher via the satellite system on their computer provided by the Department of Education and Training. This has been a huge step in allowing students to experience visual learning as well as improve their technology skills.

The majority of School Of The Air students live on isolated stations in Western NSW.  They are truly "Parted but United".

We provide a number of field services to supplement a written correspondence course. These programs are designed to provide a close relationship between teacher and pupil and between pupils themselves. Currently there are over 80 students enrolled at the School Of the Air,  Broken Hill.

Tourist sessions are conducted Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 9:30am, except for school and public holidays. Tourists are expected to be at the School by 8:15 am (Central Standard Time).
